Women’s Boxing in NYC: Why More Women Are Training at Trinity

Let’s get one thing straight: there is no “women’s version” of boxing. There’s boxing. And women have been doing it — brilliantly — for a lot longer than most people realize. At Trinity Boxing Club, women train alongside men, learn the same technique, work with the same coaches, and throw the same punches. The only difference is that most of them are smarter about it.

Not a "Boxing-Inspired" Workout

There are plenty of places in New York City where you can punch a bag to a playlist in a dark room with strobe lights. That’s not boxing. That’s cardio with gloves on. At Trinity, you learn actual boxing — how to throw a proper jab, how to move your feet, how to slip a punch, how to put your whole body behind a right hand. Every class includes real pad work with a real trainer. You’re learning a skill, not just sweating.

The Confidence Nobody Can Take From You

The women who train at Trinity will tell you the same thing: there’s a confidence that comes from boxing that no other workout gives you. It’s not just about looking strong — it’s about knowing you are. Knowing how to throw a punch changes the way you carry yourself. It changes the way you walk into a room. It changes the way you handle pressure at work, in relationships, in life.

Will I Get Hit?

No. We offer what we call the two-hand-touch version of boxing. You train like a professional fighter without getting a mug like one. Our group classes are entirely non-contact. You work on pads with a trainer, drill on the heavy bag, and build your skills progressively. Sparring is available for members who want it, but it’s always optional and always supervised.

The Physical Transformation

Boxing is one of the most efficient full-body workouts that exists. Your legs drive the power. Your core rotates through every punch. Your shoulders, back, and arms deliver the combinations. Add footwork, defensive movement, and conditioning drills and you’re getting strength training, cardio, and agility work in a single session. Members routinely tell us they’re in the best shape of their lives after a few months at Trinity.

A Gym That Feels Like Yours

Trinity isn’t a chain and it isn’t a boutique studio. It’s an old-school boxing gym with exposed brick, hand-painted banners, and trainers who’ve actually been in the ring. The atmosphere is welcoming without being soft. Our members are lawyers, artists, teachers, executives, students, parents — people who want a real workout and a real community. No pretense, no mirrors, no judgment.

Trinity Boxing Club has two downtown Manhattan locations — 20 Vesey Street (Financial District) and 116 Duane Street (Tribeca). Classes run Monday through Friday at 7am, noon, 5pm, and 6pm.
