Boxing Gym in Tribeca: Where the Neighborhood Goes to Fight

2 min read

Tribeca has a lot of things going for it. Robert De Niro. The film festival. Real estate prices that would make a Saudi prince wince. What it doesn’t have a lot of is grit. That’s where we come in.

An Old-School Gym in a New-Money Neighborhood

Trinity Boxing Club opened its Tribeca location at 116 Duane Street because we believe every neighborhood deserves a place where you can get punched in the ego a little. Not literally — we offer the two-hand-touch version of boxing. But the kind of workout that reminds you that comfort zones are overrated and the best version of yourself is the one that shows up when things get hard.

What Makes Trinity Different from Boutique Fitness

Tribeca has no shortage of fitness studios. You can spin, row, stretch, bend, and contort yourself in rooms that smell like eucalyptus and charge you $45 a class. Those places are fine. But they’re not boxing gyms. At Trinity, there are no candles. No ambient lighting. No curated playlists designed to make you feel like you’re in a movie. There’s a ring. There are heavy bags. There are trainers who’ve actually fought professionally. And there’s the sound of leather hitting leather that tells you this is the real thing.

Every Class Includes Pad Work

This is the Trinity difference. Every single group class includes one-on-one pad work with a trainer. Not a recorded video. Not a group demonstration where you follow along. An actual coach holding pads for you, watching your form, calling combinations, and pushing you harder than you’d ever push yourself. It’s the closest thing to a private lesson you’ll find inside a group class anywhere in the city.

The Tribeca Community

The people who train at Trinity Tribeca are lawyers from the courthouses on Centre Street, artists from the lofts on Greenwich, parents from PS 234, Wall Street refugees who decided they’d rather hit a bag than stare at a Bloomberg terminal for one more second. They’re the greatest collection of True Believers, Overachievers, Bob and Weavers, Lunatics and Heretics ever assembled under one tent. And they’ll welcome you like you’ve been coming for years.
